The Blue Cluster
follows the standard 8th grade curriculum with a twist. With only two educators
teaching math, science, history, and english, there is much more room for
cross-over learning. For example, while learning about the Industrial
Revolution in history class, students can read literature focusing on the
time period, such as Lyddie, and learn about simple machines and
assembly lines in science class. Integrating lessons in this manner
seems to help students learn and remember much more detail, and puts a
"face" on what may be to them an otherwise uninteresting bit of history.
