10 weeks down, 30 to go

I understand that some animals, like elephants, can continue a pregnancy for up to 22 months. Why is it so hard for me to be patient for nine? I'm not even showing yet!

Those baby calendar things love to equate the size of your fetus (yes, I have now moved from Embryo G. to Fetus G. - sounds kind of trailer doesn't it? Like Cletus G.) to various fruits and vegetables. One told me yesterday that it was approximately the size of a kumquat, which I confused with a kiwi, which didn't make sense, because last week, it was the size of a grape. And before that a raspberry, preceded by a kidney bean, lentil, etc. Like, great idea, sending all this to pregnant women who are immediately going to a.) send their husbands out for a can of pinto beans or b.) hurl all over themselves thinking about kumquat.

Anyhow, Wednesday I have my first ultrasound, where I hope to see an actual fetus, i.e. not green, oval, or seeded.
